I just signed up for Icelandic language lessons. Here's why.
Following the 'on vacation' post from Germany...
There was:
Iceland is highly recommended. I want to go back.
The people I met were really friendly. (One sounded exactly like Bjork.) Things were not too expensive. Great music, too. Check out Of Monsters and Men (now released in the US = next big thing?) - good video clip here.

Peanut butter and JEALOUS - I really want to go to Iceland. How long ago was this trip?
ReplyDeleteEnd of November last year (2011). You should go -- it's amazing.
DeleteOh hashed fish and black bread, how I miss you.
ReplyDeleteI know it.
DeleteWow, what a menu! I would like to be able to say I've eaten puffin. Would beat the hell out of frog's legs.
ReplyDelete*goes online to look at Iceland vacations*
Seems a good enough reason to sit on a plane for 2 days. :)
DeleteI've always wanted to go to Iceland...wonder if I'll ever make it there! I'm with you on Whale...although if it was an ethical catch (like if I was hanging out with the eskimos who eat whale as part of their diet and only hunt what they eat...then possibly). That last photo is STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting dilemma. Obviously it's free range meat. But then there's the sustainability side of things. And, of course, the hunting method. I thought it safer to just say no, and I don't regret that decision.
DeleteThe Northern Lights are something, huh?
Looks fantastic if a bit chilly! Been meaning to go to Iceland - apparently the scuba diving there is amazing too. Does puffin taste like fishy game bird?
ReplyDeleteNot fishy. To be honest I can't remember how I'd describe the taste. (I was just so happy to be warm again...) Perhaps gamey. Maybe I should go and try it again. I'll get back to you in a year or so. :)
ReplyDeleteThat sunset looks amazing. I really want to go- thou i may need to learn the language before venturing into any of the restaurants
